Margaret Wharton (1939-2014) was a highly regarded artist whose work focused on the manipulation of objects that were reconstructed and reimagined into thought-provoking visions of the world. Wharton’s interest in art emerged later in her life: graduating from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1975, her prolificacy quickly made her influential in the Chicago art scene. Wharton battled several health issues through her life, including bipolar disorder, which influenced and affected much of her art.
