Luciana Abait, an internationally exhibited artist, is an Argentian native who now resides in Los Angeles, CA. Her paintings and photographs are mysterious landscapes and desolate interiors that explore themes of human presence and absence. Abait explores her topics with emotional range, from dark to playful – always with great psychological charge.
Shown here is a selection of work from her series, “Icebergs”. The works are photo based and printed on thick watercolor paper. She works over this surface with pencils and pastels, erasing almost completely the photograph underneath. Icebergs and construction equipment are the main components of the series. Their presentation explores themes of adaptation, assimilation, isolation and displacement. They also make a reflection on the aggressive intrusion of men into nature even in the most remote places on earth, thus creating awareness of environmental issues.

Coming Soon: Road Trip
Road Trip is a video art installation presented by Luciana Abait. It is comprised of 24 still images, projected on a loop. Abait has created a fantasy narrative through surreal landscapes based on photographs that she took on a recent road trip through the American West in order to clear her eyes, mind and soul after months of isolation due to the California lockdowns. Her altered landscapes eerily portray distortions that begin to feel like a trippy science fiction film, and take the viewer on an out-of-this-world, supernatural voyage that enables them to get lost, and find a sense of possibility and of freedom.
